Visit the world famous Nikka Whisky Distillery! Trace the founder’s passion put into making whisky while touring the vast distillery and taste the delicious whisky at the end of the tour. The rich natural environment gives a unique taste that no other whiskies can copy.

A community house that displays and sells local specialities. There is also an Italian cafe where you can grab drinks on your way out. There are even soothing footbaths where you can relax and get refreshed.

Hiraga Kokeshi shop: A local workshop that inherits Sakunami Kokeshi’s manufacturing method. A kind face and uniquely shaped Kokeshi will amuse you for sure. If you are lucky, you may be able to see the talented craftsman working as well!

One of the best onsens in Sakunami. You can stare at the crystal clear stream running in front of you while enjoying a Japanese traditional Rotenburo, an outdoor bath. You can feel a part of nature and spend a relaxing and luxurious time in the onsen.

A very rare shrine dedicated to the God of hot springs. This shrine is often visited by women who want keep their beauty by soaking in an onsen. You too, can visit the natural onsens inside the precincts of this shrine!

Here you will find Sendai’s famous confection Zunda-mochi – pounded sticky rice cake with a tasty edamame paste filling, and other simple Japanese sweets. Drop in for a short break and satisfy your sweet tooth. A perfect way to pass the time if you need to wait for someone or for the train.
