Stop At: Motonosumi Shrine, 498 Yuyatsuo, Nagato 759-4712 Yamaguchi Prefecture
Motonosumi Inari Shrine (元乃隅稲成神社) is the shrine located on the seaside cliff in Nagato city. It’s one of the most bizarre and unique, yet spectacular sights in Japan and has been featured by numbers of websites including CNN!

Pass By: Tsunoshima Ohashi, Hohokucho Kanda, Shimonoseki 759-5331 Yamaguchi Prefecture
One of the most magnificent views in Japan. Tsunoshima Bridge is connecting a mainland and a small island called Tsunoshima. Passing the bridge feels like flying above the beautiful ocean!
As well as the spectacular scenery of the bridge, the island and the area around are perfect destinations for beach hunters! The west side of Yamaguchi prefecture has amazing beaches with turquoise blue crystal clear water and white sand. Surprise! Tsunoshima is best to reach by car but it is possible by public transport. Take a but towards Tsunoshima from JR Kottoi station.
Stop At: Iwakuni Castle, Yokoyama, Iwakuni 740-0001 Yamaguchi Prefecture
During the Edo Period, Iwakuni city used to be one of the feudal domains of Japan and it has some of most amazing historical sights to see. The Iwakuni castle is located on top of the mountain which you can access by rope way and enjoy the great over-look view of Iwakuni city from the top.

Kintaikyo Bridge is considered as one of the greatest bridges in Japan. This arch bridge was originally built in 1673.
Iwakuni City is located in southeast of Yamaguchi pref which is only 1 hour away from Hiroshima City. If you are planning to trip to Hiroshima, why don’t you add Iwakuni city to your list??

Stop At: Akiyoshidai Karst Observatory, Akiyoshidai, Shuhocho Akiyoshi, Mine 754-0511 Yamaguchi Prefecture
Japan’s largest karst. A great driving road through the karst and hiking trails are also available. Akiyoshidai is a great place to drive. But if you do not have a car, it can be accessed directly by bus from several major cities including Yamguchi city, Shimnoseki,Hagi.

Overflowing with energy, this is Shimonoseki’s kitchen!
“Welcome! Welcome! Cheap! Cheap!” At the western edge of Yamaguchi, famous for its blowfish and energetic spirit is Karato Market. Not only will you hear auctioneers hawking fish, but there are also vegetable and flower corners, making this the local “kitchen”, where it is crowded every day. The biggest difference from Tsukiji Market in Tokyo is that anyone can purchase products here. After the stock for business has been traded at 7 am, vendors would take the time to explain to tourists the different kinds of fish, how to eat them and recommendations of the day.

Stop At: Shimonoseki, Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Chugoku
Shimonoseki is the largest city in Yamaguchi. If you have had your fill of peace and tranquillity after visiting some of the other locations on our list then perhaps you should stop off here for some hustle and bustle. The city is in an important location because it is just across the water from the massive city of Fukouka, and has a port that is convenient for trade from neighbouring countries. The port even has passenger ferries that regularly take people to China and South Korea.

Moji was one of five cities that merged to form Kitakyushu City in 1963. It is the closest municipality of Kyushu in proximity to Honshu. Moji Port (門司港, Mojikō) has been prominent as an international trading port since the late 19th century. Today, although main port activities have been moved to a newer location at Shin-Moji Port, Moji Port retains its relevance as a tourist destination with a flavor from the past thanks to several well-preserved Western style buildings from the Meiji and Taisho Periods.
