Every December at the famous temple Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, is announced the “Kanji of the Year” and performed it as a big writing called “Taisho”, a Large Calligraphy artwork.
Now you can experience this performance at our Japanese-style studio in Tsukiji, Tokyo.
Master of Shodō Kōji Takano will guide you to create your personal “Taisho”.
There are no restrictions on the kanji you can write, feel free to write down your ideas!

Itinerary
① Introduction
② Large Calligraphy Performance by Master of Shodō Kōji Takano.
First of all, the teacher will show you an example.
③ Lecture “Basics of Large Calligraphy”
How to carry the writing brush, tips and precautions.
④ Warming Up
Brushing practice on paper.
⑤ Rehearsal
How to move your body to transmit your idea and the kanji you want to write.
⑥ Execution
Express yourself in a one powerful single stroke. This step will be recorded.
⑦ Review
At the end, let’s take a look to your performance.
・It is recommended to use clothes that can be stained (changing room available).
・It is allowed to take photos and videos during the activity.
・The size of the paper is about 1×1.8m.
・It is recommended to bring a large bag if you want to take your artwork home with you.
・If you want you can chose the shipping option (shipping costs have an additional cost, up-front cash payment).
・About sending the recorded data, we will inform you by e-mail once the activity is finished.
