Japanese Food Artist miwako will explain you the recipe for a charming Sushi Cake. Challenge yourself and create an original decoration to display at your party. It’s a piece of cake!

miwako sensei will show you how to make a different version of common sushi, a funnier and cuter recipe!

What you will need
Tools: rice cooker or saucepan (to boil the rice); cake film (18cm) 2 sheets (if you do not have it you can use 4 transparent cup of 8cm); cookie cutters (small as a sliced carrot); pastry bag; spatula or rice scoop; peeler (for the cucumber); kitchen knife; fan (not necessarily required).

Ingredients: white rice 320g; vinegar 30cl; sugar 1 tablespoon; salt ½ teaspoon; salmon 8 slices; raw ham or roast ham 4~5 slices; shrimps 4~5; broccoli bunch 2~3 pieces; carrot (2~3 5mm slices); cucumber 1; edible flowers 2~3 types; mashed potatoes base (If you do not have it you can make homemade mashed potatoes with the following ingredients: potato 1, butter or margarine 30g, milk 30cc, salt and pepper).

Sample Menu

• White rice – If possible, prepare freshly cooked warm rice.
It is recommended to use Japanese rice since is more suitable for the recipes.
• Shrimps, carrot and broccoli – Boil the shrimps, carrot and broccoli before the workshop starts.
• Cookie cutters – Use star and flower shaped cookie cutters to slice the carrot. If you do not have it you can use the kitchen knife to cut into the shapes you like.
• Edible flowers – Choose 2 different types for a colorful and more beautiful decoration.
If you do not have it pick up and clean some flower you can find outside.
• Cooked rice and Mashed potatoes – The details of how to cook the rice and mashed potatoes recipes will be given to you by mail.
