What makes Private Nokogiri Yama & Nihon Ji Temple Tour a unique experience ?
Upon picking you up at your hotel, we head to Chiba Prefecture, where we ascend Mt. Nokogiri via cable car, named for its saw-like shape and historical mining of marble and stone used in constructing the expansive Buddhist complex, Nihon-ji.
From the observatory atop the mountain, situated approximately 400 meters above sea level, you can enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo Bay. On clear days, you can discern the skyline of the metropolis and, occasionally, even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance!
The “Jigoku-Nozoki” (Hell’s Lookout) is a thrilling spot that gets your adrenaline pumping! While safety railings are in place, those with vertigo should proceed with caution!
The Great Buddha of Nihon-ji, though imposing, remains relatively obscure to many. This magnificent stone Buddha, carved from rock, stands serenely in a tranquil garden at the heart of the complex.
After exploring Nihon-ji, we descend to sea level for lunch (cost not included). Your guide will present a variety of dining choices, from fresh local seafood and cozy cafes to unexpectedly delightful European dishes crafted with local ingredients!
From May to mid-November, we will visit Oyama Senmaida, the closest terraced rice fields to Tokyo. Located in the mid-mountain region of Kamogawa, it is recognized as one of Japan’s top 100 terraced rice fields, with cultural significance. In 2010, it was visited by the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
These picturesque fields blend nature and human activity in perfect harmony. Despite recent challenges, ongoing efforts across Japan aim to preserve terraced rice fields. Explore the beauty and cultural heritage of Oyama Senmaida—a timeless destination.
During the winter departure tour, when the rice paddies have dried up, we will visit the enchanting Okamoto Pier extending into Tokyo Bay. Here, you can enjoy the sea breeze and, if you’re lucky, witness a breathtaking sunset with Mount Fuji in the background!
The return journey to Tokyo will be equally thrilling! We’ll travel via the Tokyo Aqua Line, an impressive engineering feat spanning Tokyo Bay from northwest to southeast, linking the city center with Chiba Prefecture. The Aqua Line includes an almost 10-kilometer tunnel beneath the seabed, emerging at Umi Hotaru in the middle of Tokyo Bay, where we’ll take a short break on our way back.
