What makes Delight Yourself by a Rickshaw Journey Food Tour through Asakusa a unique experience ?

Asakusa (浅草) is the center of Tokyo’s shitamachi (literally “low city”), one of Tokyo’s districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives.

Asakusa’s main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.

Denboin Street is very well preserved, with many traditional shop buildings dating date back a hundred years or more. This is a great location for finding some unique souvenirs while enjoying the atmosphere of old Edo (the old name for Tokyo). Many of the shops here have been in the same family for generations, and sell hand-crafted goods, foods, and accessories that you can only buy in Asakusa. The street is also quite wide which makes it a more relaxing space after visiting the busy and crowded Nakamise.

Relatively unknown, at least for visitors, Ushijima Shrine managed to miraculously survive the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 as well as the Tokyo fire bombings of World War Two. The shrine is said to have been established way back in the mid 9th century and built originally to enshrine a single deity, though the current complex now enshrines another two in its Honden building.

In the street lamps of the TANUKI shopping street, the raccoon that fulfills each wish is settled. It is a reputation monument that leads the happiness of visitors. When you visit, please come and bring your luck by touching the stomach of the raccoon.

Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo. It became the tallest tower in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634 meters in March 2011, making it the tallest tower

Imado Jinja is a Shinto shrine in the Imado area of Asakusa. Originally dedicated to the god of war, this shrine is now associated with good relationships. In recent years it has also become popular because of its association with “maneki neko” lucky ceramic cats.

Sumida Park is a large green space in the Asakusa area with attractive natural scenery, riverside strolling paths, and a variety of public facilities. This park is an enjoyable place to take a break or have a picnic and if you feel like you need to escape from busy city life or simply breathe some fresh air, this is the place to come.
