What makes Asakusa Walking Tour with Local Japanese Comedian a unique experience ?

We will start the walking tour from Tokyo Cruise(Water Bus Station) near Azumabashi Bridge on Sumida River, which is famous for Sumida River Firework Festival on July.

I will also show you some of the landmarks, such as Tokyo Skytree, Asahi Beer Company and Golden Building with unique nicknames:))

We will see the view from the 8th floor of Cultural Tourist Information Center of Asakusa:)

We will enter the center of Asakusa area from the main gate of Sensoji Temple, Kaminarimon Gate, which is the icon of Asakusa.

After walking into the central area of Asakusa, we will take a look at one of the lovely temples in Asakusa, Bentendo, which has the deity of art and prosperity.

Next to Bentendo Temple, there’s the Bell of Time, which was regularly rung by the monk of Senso-ji Temple to let people know the time during Edo Period(from the 16th to the 18th century).

Two Buddhist statues near Sensoji Temple

On the right of the main hall of Sensoji Temple, there is one of the National Cultural Properties in Japan, Nitenmon Gate. This gate was use as the Shogun’s gate, which means only the general was allowed to pass during Edo Period.

After taking a look at Nitenmon Gate, we will see Asakusa Shrine that has 3 deities who are closely related to the origin of Sensoji Temple. There’s also a garage for three big portable shrines that are carried by local people at Sanja Festival in May.

Yogodo Temple

Awashimado

The center of street performances during Edo period.

In front of the temple, there’s another gate called Hozomon Gate that has a pair of guardian statues.

This is the destination of the walking tour, Senso-ji Temple, the oldest temple in Tokyo with 1,400 years of history. I would love to tell you how this temple and its Buddhist deity, Kannon Bodhisattva, has been supported and loved by a variety of people since the past.
