Why choose this Tokyo Prefecture tour ?

This tour visits Mt. Mitake, located about 90 minutes by train from central Tokyo. Situated at the summit of Mt. Mitake, the Musashi Mitake Shrine is known as an important place for mountain worship.
The tour also visits the Rock Garden, a place near the summit where visitors can enjoy the natural scenery. The tour is accompanied by a Mitake adventure travel guide (English-speaking tour conductor) who knows a lot about Mt. Mitake. Mt. Mitake rises 929 meters above sea level. Take the cable car round trip from about halfway up the mountain to the top station situated at an altitude of 831 meters. As this tour does not include authentic mountain climbing, even those who don’t have mountain climbing experience may participate. Walking distance is approximately 10 km. While this course is for beginners, there are hundreds of stone steps, slopes, and mossy paths on the course, so please participate wearing clothes easy to walk in and non-slip shoes, and use a backpack.

What makes Full Day Guided Hiking Tour in Mt. Mitake a unique experience ?

Take the cable car from Takimoto Station to
Mitakesan Station. Enjoy the seasonal scenery while
heading up a slope as steep as 25 degrees.

From the cable car summit station plaza, visitors can
gaze out at a panorama stretching as far out as
central Tokyo, including the skyscrapers of Shinjuku
and Tokyo Tower.

Visit Musashi Mitake Shrine, known as a sacred place
for mountain worship since over a thousand years
ago.
Oinusama, a Japanese wolf, is deified here. The
shrine is visited by many people bringing along their
beloved pet dogs and praying for good health.

Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch at a shukubo (temple
lodging) run by a family of Shinto priests called Oshi
who take care of visitors. Feel the historical
atmosphere from the thatched roof exterior and
tatami-matted Japanese-style room.
Listen to the Oshi talk about the history of Mitake.
*Depending on facility circumstances, lunch may be
at a different temple lodging.

Visit Ayahiro Falls, with a torii gate before the
waterfall basin; Rock Garden, dotted with boulders of
different sizes; and Tengu Rock. This is also a Mitake
Shrine training course, with free time for meditation
(coffee break) partway through. Enjoy a leisurely time
while taking a break from hiking.

On the way to Mitakesan Station, walk along the
shrine approach road lined with souvenir shops and
the Oshi-shuraku, the Shrine Priests’ Village. Take the cable car again on the return trip from Mitakesan Station to Takimoto Station.
