Stop At: Tokonyan, 2 Chome Sakaemachi, Tokoname 479-0836 Aichi Prefecture

A huge “Manekineko” statue that watches over the area; it has become the city’s symbol due to its head, which is larger than a human being. Get close and take photos!

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Kaisendonya Shipping Agency Takita Family Residence, 4-75, Sakaecho, Tokoname Aichi Prefecture

You can walk inside and learn the history of the house built during Tokoname’s prosperous era when ships were used to transport cargo.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Dokanzaka, 4 Sakaemachi, Tokoname 479-0836 Aichi Prefecture

A place is full of Tokoname’s pottery where you will find Tokoname-yaki (Tokoname ware) pipes buried in the road and along both walls! Take photos of this scenery covered with clay pipes, because you will only find it here.

Stop At: Climbing Kiln, 6, Sakaecho, Tokoname Aichi Prefecture

Eight large kilns used to bake pottery until 1974. You will also notice 10 chimneys, a unique feature, indicating the large production of pottery at that time.

A cozy shop selling originally crafted dishes and goods using Tokoname’s clay. You will feel your heart relaxing just by looking at the simple but beautifully shaped potteries.

Hands-on museums where you can experience pottery-making. You can learn the whole process through seeing, touching, feeling and creating pottery. There are several spots which you can choose to visit these museums. INAX MUSEUMS are also highly recommended for those who are art-lovers♪
