It is difficult to choose what to buy as there are several types of deli food. You can buy the croquette which appeared in the movie “Shoplifters” which won the Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

A tiny deli food shop that is famous for red ginger tempura. The featuring red appearance and refreshing taste will make you into a repeat visitor to this store, just like the locals who come to Minowa just for the red ginger tempura.

Gyoza-Specialty Sakai Foods Minowa: The only menu they have is gyoza and they only offer to take away. These dumplings are made with ground meat wrapped in tasty thin dough. The gyoza from this famous store is delicious, filling, and affordable.

Okashi Rakuichi (Snack Market): Specialty store for “Arare” which is a snack made from rice. You can enjoy the look and the taste of the unique flavor “Arare”. The rice bag-shaped package is also a popular gift.

A soba restaurant that was founded back in the Edo era. This shop is the main restaurant of the Sunaba family which is one of the top three family-owned shops that make Edo-styled soba. This shop is cherished by the locals. Every Minowa resident has eaten soba here at least once. The shop is registered as an important cultural property, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the olden days.

Stop At: Kintaro-ame, 5-chōme-16-12 Negishi, Taito City, Tokyo 110-0003, Japan

Kintaroame: A famous store for “Kintaroame”, a unique pillar-shaped candy that has the exact same design no matter where you cut. It was founded at the beginning of the Meiji era and has a history of more than 100 years. They sell candies with the design of “Kintaro” a boy from a Japanese famous fairytale, and other designs.

Stop At: Ichiyo Memorial Museum, Japan, 〒110-0012 Tokyo, Taito City, Ryūsen, 3-chōme−18−4 台東区立一葉記念館

A museum dedicated to Higuchi Ichiyo, a female writer from Minowa. Higuchi Ichiyo’s image is printed on the 5000 yen bill as her achievements were mesmerizing.
Even if you are not fond of literature, there are other artworks to see, such as the diorama of old Minowa, Shodo (calligraphy), and Japanese paintings, so it is worth visiting.

Shoboin (Tobifudo): A very rare shrine where people pray for safe flights and trips. They sell airplane-shaped charms and people visit this shrine for its peculiar blessings.
You can pray for a safe journey and enjoy your travel to Japan!

A facility that displays several traditional crafts that were made by craftsmen in which the skills were passed on for generations from the Edo era. You can observe their handiwork on the weekends. Enjoy the precious and dynamic craftsmanship in front of you.
