Semboku Trip Overview
This is an Akita-style food cycling tour where you rent a bicycle at Lake Tazawa, go to a farm near the lake to get food, and enjoy a BBQ at a campground!
Every sight you visit are places that cannot be reached without a local guide.
If you’re lucky, you’ll even get to meet some of the local farmers in the process of getting your ingredients. Usually, they are working on the farms but if you get to meet them, their story will surely entertain your trip!
Nonetheless, you will be able to get the fresh-est veggies that local farmers produced!
Once you are back with a basket full of vegetables, your barbeque dinner will begin! The campsite will be ready with the locally sourced meat.
For the options menu, wild game meat and locally produced beer can be added to your barbeque table!
Everything on this tour is local!

This will be your place of reception.
You will first meet your guide at the campground and have an ice-breaker session!
If you arrive early, you can simply enjoy walking in the campsight.
Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Tazawa Lake, Tazawakokata, Semboku 014-1203 Akita Prefecture
Travelers will first find themselves facing Japan’s deepest lake with its fantastic cobalt blue scenery! Your guide will take you on a small walking tour beside the lake, giving a short orientation of what you will experience in the next 2 hours!
Your guide will be happy to answer your questions anytime too!
There are lots of mysteries and fantasies regarding the lake, so you may want to check that out too!

Stop At: Tazawako Rent-a-Bike, Haruyama-148 Tazawako Tazawa, Semboku, Akita 014-1204, Japan
This is the place where you will receive the bicycle!
You will use the typical bicycle used by citizens, but if you need to upgrade the bike, you have all your chances to do so! (Please select the options menu)

Stop At: Guesthouse Sounosuke, Age-128 Tazawako Obonai, Semboku, Akita 014-1201, Japan
Here will be one of the spots where you may be able to meet the local farmer!
You can receive a bag of rice made by the host, and enjoy it for your dinner meal!
You can also look around the farm, and if you are lucky enough to meet the host (who is mostly staying on the farm), you will get to hear and learn the story and lifestyle of local farmers!
Since this farm owner is a big collector of fossils, if you’re a science geek, you will surely enjoy his collections!

Another Meet up with local farmers!
This farm has a large land of radish but also produces different types of vegetables in its land!
You can expect to find eggplants, green peppers, tomatoes, corns, garlic, and many more for your dinner barbeque!
If you can find the host, enjoy the conversation with how the local mothers play a big role in running a farmer’s family!
Grab the veggies and off we go to the next venue!

This destination is a souvenir shop where you can find everything about honey!
A lot of sweets and snacks and juice made of honey. The best part is where you can enjoy the honey ice cream with a little game!
There are various photogenic tricks at this place, so you can also enjoy snapping a photo and post it on Instagram and Facebook!

Your last place to end your tour will also be the starting point.
The campground staff will be ready with the meat, beer, and soft drinks (available on the options menu), and BBQ kit so you can start cooking anytime you want! (I hope you are hungry after your 2-hour tour!)
Cut the veggies you received from the farmers, wash them in the stream of fresh water, and enjoy your barbeque dinner.
You can also reserve wild game meat as an option for your barbeque. It is shot in the wild of Akita and you won’t be able to find wild game meat barbeque outside this place!
