Stop At: Sekigahara Town History & Folklore Museum, 894-28 Sekigahara, Sekigahara-cho, Fuwa-gun 503-1501 Gifu Prefecture

The battle of Sekigahara is very important in Japanese history. It is still often used as a theme for historical dramas, movies, and games. Here, you can learn more about the battle of Sekigahara through exhibits of used weapons and realistic explanations by large dioramas.

Stop At: Tokugawa Ieyasu Saigo Jin Trace, 959-2 Sekigahara, Sekigahara-cho, Fuwa-gun 503-1501 Gifu Prefecture

・Ieyasu Tokugawa’s last battlefield position: This is where Ieyasu Tokugawa, the General of the Eastern Army, finally set up his position. One kilometer from here is the military of the Western Army, Mitsunari Ishida. Try walking and experience the realism that generals were fighting very close.

・Ishida Mitsunari’s last battlefield position: This is the last position of the Western Army general, Mitsunari Ishida. The base set up on the mountain was in a place where you could overlook the overall war situation. You can enjoy the view overlooking the whole Sekigahara. It is said that Mitsushige Ishida took advantage in terms of location and in fact the situation at the beginning of the battle was dominated by the Western army.

・ Kashiwara Inn History Museum: The battle of Sekigahara was won by the Eastern Army, and Ieyasu Tokugawa became the top general all over Japan. At the time, he have developed a transportation network and formed towns with inns in each area. One of which is Kashiwara Inn, a station next to Sekigahara. You can get to know Japan after the battle of Sekigahara.

・ Kameya Sakyo Shoten: This is a moxibustion shop that has been in operation for over 350 years. The oldest building in this area is such an impressive. they manufacture and sell folk remedies for oriental medicine called “Mogusa”.
