Sakurai Trip Overview
In Old Japan, many enjoyed a visit to the temple via a long, crowded highway where the town flourished around it. It is in Nara this atmosphere remains to this day!
Firstly, we will visit “Hase temple.” Drop by an old liquor shop or Japanese confectionary shop to experience the travels of the past.
Go up the 399 stairs of Hase temple where a dynamic view and main hall awaits! The view from the theatre is super, there is also no doubt you will be overwhelmed by the size.
Later we will visit Odamo, a castle town that flourished along the Ise road to Ise-Shrine. There are several old stores, including sake breweries, Japanese confectionary stores and old private cafes. A great atmosphere!

Houendou: Let’s go Hase Temple like the old times, along the Hase Highway. First stop is a “kuzu mochi” shop. Did a traveller in the past, stop by the same shop?

Shirozakeya: Have you ever eaten “Nara-pickles” made from sake? If you like sake, this is sure to be a favorite! Taste Nara pickles, that taste completely different from normal pickles.

Climb the 399 stairs to visit the hidden Hase Temple! Take a walk around a large temple, that feels like the size of a whole mountain.

Haseji: Time for a break at a cafe. A cafe with a splendid garden, refurbished from an old palace house. Experience Japanese relaxation as you sit on the tatami and admire the garden.

Visit a castle town with an atmosphere from 400 years ago. There are many local speciality stores. Take your shoes off, and relax your feet in the footbaths!

A brewery over 300 years old! It is made with the delicious water and fine cold weather from this area. There is also a sake cafe!

It is a medicine museum from the 18th century. It is a very valuable place storing the history of medicine, history of the city, but also the houses of the past.
