Naruko Onsen is a hot spring resort that developed after the eruption of Mount Naruko in 837 and has 374 hot springs, which together with the neighboring areas provide 9 of the 11 types of hot springs in Japan. It is one of the three most famous hot springs in Tohoku, along with Iizaka Onsen and Akiu Onsen. In the surrounding area, the unique and beautiful nature created by the hot springs changes its appearance from season to season, making it a popular destination for both Japanese and foreign tourists.
