Kofuku-ji is the former temple built as a private residence of Fujiwara Kamatari in Yamashina, Kyoto. It was moved to the present location by Fujiwara nofuhito with the Heijo shift capital in 710. At that time, it was named Kofuku-ji. Since then, it prospered as Mr. Fujiwara’s temple, and was named one of the four great temples in the early Nara period.
