Stop At: Onomichi Port Bicycle Rental Terminal, 5-11 Nishigoshocho, Onomichi, Hiroshima 722-0037, Japan

Shimanami Rental Bike: Rent a hybrid bike to get around Onomichi efficiently. We will support you during the rental process, so you don’t have to worry about anything.

Stop At: Hondori Shopping Street, Tsuchido, Onomichi 722-0035 Hiroshima Prefecture

Onomichi Hondori Shopping Street: This shopping street is lined with small, traditional stores. In recent years, there have been many fashionable stores set up by immigrants to the area, and it’s the perfect place to take in the unique atmosphere of Onomichi, with its mixture of old and new. If you are interested in local gourmet food, there are also plenty of stores to choose from.

Stop At: Senkoji Temple Mountain Ropeway, 20-1 Higashitsuchidōchō, Onomichi, Hiroshima 722-0033, Japan

Senkoji Ropeway: Take the ropeway, and enjoy the feeling of walking on air while looking down on the sea from the top of a mountain. The view from here is unique to the Seto Inland Sea, as the countless islands in the calm sea look like mountains themselves! The view of the Onomichi Bridge, the many boats scattered on the water, and the houses on the slopes, which can only be seen in Onomichi, will surely make for a memory that will last a lifetime.

Stop At: Senkoji & Senkoji Park, 15-1 Higashitsuchidocho, Onomichi 722-0033 Hiroshima Prefecture

Senkoji Temple: This temple has become a symbol of Onomichi, with its splendid vermilion hall that shines against the blue sky and the historic 33 Kannon statues. In the temple, you can also experience a slightly different way of praying, by twirling a large prayer bead called Dai-Nenju.

Stop At: Neko no Hosomichi, Higashitsuchidocho, Onomichi 722-0033 Hiroshima Prefecture

Neko no Hosomichi: This is a pathway lined with stores selling cat figurines and other cat-related goods. Onomichi is also known as the “cat town” because of the stray and domesticated cats that can be found all around town. Feel free to play with all the cool cats in town!

Stop At: Tenneiji Temple, 17-29 Higashitsuchido-cho, Onomichi 722-0033 Hiroshima Prefecture

Tenneiji Temple: The three-story pagoda of Tenneiji Temple, with the city of Onomichi and the sea in the background, is one of the most famous sights in Onomichi! Be sure to take a picture during your visit. The temple is dedicated to health, and is thus a great place to pray for good health. The temple also houses 500 arhats statues, reaching all the way up to the ceiling, and each has a unique face. They are truly a sight to behold.

Stop At: Miyachi, 1-chōme-6-22 Tsuchidō, Onomichi, Hiroshima 722-0035, Japan

Miyachi: There are many ramen stores in Onomichi, and many ramen lovers from all over the country come to enjoy the ramen here. Miyachi has been in business for nearly 70 years and is a hidden gem highly recommended by locals. Delight in this inexpensive and delicious ramen!

Stop At: Mukaishima, 1-15-1 Kubo, Onomichi 722-0045 Hiroshima Prefecture

Mukaishima: Along with your bike, board a boat to Mukaishima, located just one minute away across from Onomichi. After riding this boat used by locals everyday, you are ready to start your mini-cycling tour!

Stop At: Innoshima Bridge, Innnoshima Ohamacho, Onomichi 722-2101 Hiroshima Prefecture

Innoshima Bridge: A beautiful suspension bridge with a total length of 1,270 metres that connects Mukaishima and Innoshima islands. You will feel the overwhelming scale of the bridge as it gets closer and closer to you! The bridge has a double-layer structure, so bicyclists and pedestrians can cross it without worry.

Stop At: Hassakuya, 246-1 Innoshimaōhamachō, 因島大浜町 Onomichi, Hiroshima 722-2101, Japan

Hassaku-ya: A shop with a spectacular view of the Innoshima Bridge and the sea, and a rest spot for cyclists. Be sure to try the delicious daifuku made from whole citrus fruits called “hassaku,” a specialty of the island! Savour its delicious sweetness while looking out at the bridge you’ve crossed.

Stop At: Shimanami Beach, 57地先 Innoshimaōhamachō, Onomichi, Hiroshima 722-2101, Japan

Shimanami Beach: Ride along the coastline, stopping at the Shimanami Beach along the way. On the way back to Onomichi, riding the ferry along with your bike, you will be able to view the islands and bridges you just crossed once again from the sea, providing a new perspective on the Seto Inland Sea. After taking a break and resting your body, you will return to the initial starting point of the tour.
