In this program, a nationally-accredited sushi instructor will take you to their private home to take part in a hands-on cooking class.

In this class, you will learn all about the history and culture of Japanese sushi and learn to make various different types of sushi, including “nigiri sushi,” traditional hand-moulded sushi, and “gunkan maki,” also known as boat-shaped sushi, which is hand-moulded sushi wrapped in nori seaweed and topped with a soft ingredient.

After your class, you will settle down to have a private lunch with your Japanese host, where they will teach you all about Japanese sushi etiquette.

Sample Menu

• Nigiri sushi – The most traditional style of sushi. It is hand-moulded rice topped with an ingredient of your choice (tuna, shrimp, Japanese omelette, etc).
• Gunkan-maki – Also known as boat-shaped sushi, it is rice wrapped in seaweed topped with the soft ingredient of your choice (fish roe, tuna, shellfish, etc).
• Hoso-maki – Thin tightly rolled sushi wrapped in nori seaweed. This sushi often contains a thin seafood or vegetable filling.
