Itinerary

Pass By: Fuji Subaru Line, Fujikawaguchiko-machi, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0300 Yamanashi Prefecture

Fuji Subaru Line is a 30 km drive-way between Kawaguchi Lake and Fuji Fifth Station. While driving along this road among the mountain, you may see quite a few species of trees such as hemlock, red pine etc., and a pretty dynamic panorama of greenery expanding in front of eyes.

Stop At: Mt. Fuji 5th Station, Narusawa-mura, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0320 Yamanashi Prefecture

At 2300 meters above sea level, Fuji 5th Station offers a panorama of the Fuji Five Lakes area below, as well as a breathtaking view of cloud sea. There is also Komitake Shrine and quite a few shops snacks or souvenirs.

Stop At: Lake Kawaguchiko, Fujikawaguchiko-machi, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0300 Yamanashi Prefecture

Lunch is arranged at the restaurant by Lake Kawaguchiko. Lunch will be a local cuisine “hoto”. Hoto noodle is a popular main food in Yamanashi Prefecture where rice field is relatively insufficient in this mountainous area. In The Pillow Book, it records that Japanese envoy to Tang Dynasty China introduced this food back to Japan during Nara and Heian Period. During Japan’s Sengoku period, Takeda Shingen, daimyo of Kai Province, also had this hoto noodles in the camp of battlefield.

Stop At: Oshino Hakkai, 151 Shibokusa, Oshino-mura, Minamitsuru-gun 401-0511 Yamanashi Prefecture

After lunch we will go to visit Oshino Hakkai, which consists of eight ponds with underground water originating from Mt. Fuji. The eight ponds are fed by melt snow from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji that filters down the mountain through porous layers of lava for over 80 years, resulting in very clear spring water that is revered by the locals.

Oshino Hakkai is in Oshino Village with Mt. Fuji right in sight. The ponds are regarded to have possessed excellent landscape with Mt. Fuji as background, as well as its history of being the sacred place and venue for Fujimichi to hold Koseki ceremony. Oshino Hakkai is also a part of world heritage Mt. Fuji assets.

Stop At: Lake Ashinoko, Hakone, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun 250-0521 Kanagawa Prefecture

Last stop of this tour will be taking Pirate Ship on Lake Ashi. Lake Ashinoko was formed up in the caldera of Hakone volcanoes about 3000 years ago, and total circumference is about 20 kilometers. The gorgeous torii, green trees by lakeside or the reflection on the lake will be spot on during your “pirate excursion”.
