Why choose this Kyoto tour ?
I would like to enhance your excitement to be in the ancient capital of Japan. In March 2024, there was official announcement from the Ministry of Transport and Tourism that it is now possible for tour guides to provide tour services in private vehicles. I will do our best to provide a comfortable stay in Kyoto for both first-time visitors and repeat visitors.
Itinerary is just one of the example for the day and it is possible to add more places to visit along the way. Due to the rear seat space limitation, recommended number of guests are up to 3 with all adult guests or 4 with one child guest.

Higashi Honganji, officially known as Shinshū Honbyō, is the mother temple of the Shinshū Ōtani-ha branch of Jōdo Shinshū (Shin Buddhism), whose founder is Shinran (1173-1262).
The image of Shinran is enshrined on the altar in the Founder’s Hall, while that of Amida Buddha is in Amida Hall.
After the death of Shinran, a mausoleum was constructed by his close followers at Ōtani in Kyoto, and his ashes interred there, from which the present Higashi Honganji eventually came into being many years later.
Since then, with tremendous support from its followers, Higashi Honganji has been serving as a spiritual center, where one can encounter the Nenbutsu teaching as clarified by Shinran, so as to discover the meaning of life and to awaken to a true relationship with the Dōbō (those, following the same path).
A sub-temple of Kodaiji Temple and Kenninji Temple known as the “Temple of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Nene”. Nene spent 19 years at this cosmetic castle (restored from Fushimi Castle) before her passing. The enshrined three-sided Daikokuten statue is a “Nenjibutsu”, a Buddha to remember Hideyoshi. The ink painting by Hasegawa et al. on the 32 sliding doors has been designated as an Important National Cultural Property. Currently a digital replica stands in its place. The North Garden has also been designated as a Special Site of Scenic Beauty. The beautiful, Ikeizuma-style (garden focusing around a pond) front garden of Fushimi Castle was changed to a dry landscape garden by Masakaza Kobori when was it was moved here. Additionally, visitors can also see Nene’s actual hand bowl, as well as enjoy Matcha in the tea room.
Gion Shirakawa is in the entertainment district near Yasaka Shrine. Traditional wooden houses, restaurants and teahouses along the stream create a special atmosphere. Especially in spring, pink flowers of cherry trees and fresh green weeping willows show a nice contrast. If you are lucky, you might see some wedding couples in kimono, geisha or maiko on the street. They have a light-up event in the sakura season.
Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street is a must-visit for those seeking a traditional Japanese experience. Its historical significance and beauty make it a standout attraction in Kyoto.
Sagano is northwest of downtown Kyoto, and Toriimoto is located at the far end of Sagano. The conservation area of the Saga Toriimoto is about 600 meters along Atago Kaido Highway leading to Atago Shrine via Kiyotaki. There you find the approach to the Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple. The first torii gate of Atago Shrine stands at the back.
Along the street, there is a mixture of farmhouse-style buildings with thatched roofs and townhouse-style buildings with two-story, tiled roofs. Here, the old atmosphere of Sagano, which constitutes a rustic historical landscape outside of Kyoto, particularly well remains.
A sprawling area in western Kyoto centered around the Katsura River and surrounding mountains, Arashiyama is an extremely popular tourist spot visitors to Kyoto won’t want to miss. Any given day you’re likely to see people in kimono or yukata enjoying local food, shopping, and pilgrimages to the local temples. Rickshaw drivers wait to carry you to your destination, whether it be the natural beauty of the bamboo forest or the man-made temples that have stood in Arashiyama for hundreds of years.
Rich in tradition, Kyoto Imperial Palace preserves the look and ambiance of the Palace as it had been in the time of Japan’s ancient imperial dynasties. The current Palace was rebuilt in 1855 and comprises several structures–including the Shisinden, the Seiryoden, the Kogosyo, the Ogakumonjyo, and the Otsunegoten–that reflect the architectural styles of various periods.
Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari’s messengers, resulting in many fox statues across the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari Shrine has ancient origins, predating the capital’s move to Kyoto in 794. At the very back of the shrine’s main grounds is the entrance to the torii gate-covered hiking trail, which starts with two dense, parallel rows of gates called Senbon Torii (“thousands of torii gates”). The torii gates along the entire trail are donations by individuals and companies, and you will find the donator’s name and the date of the donation inscribed on the back of each gate.
ts famous Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku)—actually a pagoda made to house the sacred relics of the Buddha—has given this temple the popular name of Kinkaku-ji (“Temple of the Golden Pavilion”), however the official name of this branch temple of the Rinzai-sect Zen temple of Shokoku-ji is Rokuon-ji. The temple was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
