What to Expect When Visiting Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan

Itinerary

Stop At: Kiyomizu-dera Temple, 1-294 Kiyomizu, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto 605-0862 Kyoto Prefecture
Visit early in the morning before other tourists start to arrive so you can enjoy seeing the temple’s impressive architecture and taking photos from Kyoto’s most famous view spot which is called ‘the stage of Kiyomizu’. Later, walk down to Otowa Waterfall and pray for your fortune. Your driver guide will explain its history and proper manner to drink water. After the temple, also enjoy seeing little souvenirs and unique local foods along the streets back to parking.

Stop At: Heian Jingu Shrine Otorii, 97 Okazaki Nishitennocho, Sakyo-Ku Heian Jingu Shrine, Kyoto 606-8341 Kyoto Prefecture
Make a brief photo stop here and see the massive red torii gate.

Stop At: Kyoto Imperial Palace, 3 Kyoto-Gyoen, Kamigyo-Ku, Kyoto 602-0881 Kyoto Prefecture
The massive palace is located in central Kyoto but is much easier to access with minivan. Inside the palace, you see many houses and your driver guide will explain what role each house played in Edo period. In the last part of palace, you will see such beautiful Japanese garden which will make you feel so tranquil.

Stop At: Kinkakuji Temple, 1 Kinkakujicho, Kita-ku, Kyoto 603-8361 Kyoto Prefecture
Visit Kinkakuji or Golden Pavilion, probably the most famous temple in Japan internationally. Your driver guide will help taking photo of you with the golden pavilion behind you. Also hear the guidance about omamori (amulet) and osaisen (offer money) which you will see in the temple. After finish walking the temple, you may enjoy tasting matcha ice cream (own cost) before going back to minivan.

Stop At: Bamboo Forest Street, Sagaogurayama Tabuchiyamacho, Ukyo-Ku, Kyoto 616-8394 Kyoto Prefecture
Finally head to Arashiyama in the western edge of Kyoto city. The area is famous for the beautiful bamboo forest. Slowly walk the forest to fully enjoy the serene atmosphere it has to offer. Walk by Imamiya shrine and walk back up to Okochi Sanso. Again ask your driver guide to take photos.
