Why choose this Kyoto tour ?

There are so many great places in Kyoto that you probably want to visit but perhaps not enough time. Also, Kyoto is getting very crowded due to a lot of foreigners visiting there. It is best to have a local person guiding you to come up with a plan that suits your preference. Those include not only major places but less known but very authentic temples and gardens.
For instance if you are interested in visiting zen/stone gardens, rather than visiting the crowded Ryoanji, I will take you to several sub temples of Daitokuji that has variety of amazing gardens. Plus the aburimochi shop behind it is a true hidden gem of Kyoto which started in year 1000. You can experience the origin of all the Kyoto sweets there!
I have lived in the US, UK, and India for approximately 20 years, and I’ve also traveled to about 30 countries. Living abroad for such a long time made me realize Japan’s value and sparked my interest in working as a translator/guide for foreigners.

What makes Full Day Private Kyoto Tour a unique experience ?

First we visit one of the most famous zen temples in Japan called Tenryuji. We will be able to see the beautiful pond trolling type garden as well as the famed ceiling painting of dragon in the lecture hall.

After going through Tenryuji temple, behind it we will visit the famed bamboo forest.

Okochi Sanso used to be owned by a famed Japanese movie star. He created a beautiful secluded garden. Though it costs 1,000 yen per person, it is definitely worth visiting there especially in the fall with amazing view of foliage.

Gioji temple is located in the back side of Arashiyama area. The small temple has an amazing moss garden. It takes about 15 minutes by foot from the bamboo forest area/Okochi Sanso but it is a must see in Arashiyama.

In Daitokuji there are at least three sub temples inside with variety of beautifully designed zen/stone gardens. Once you step into the property, you feel like you ara going back in time. You can sit in front of the gardens and relax and even meditate if you like.

After walking in Daitokuji, we can go to Kagariya or Ichiwaya to enjoy the oldest Japanese sweets. Ichiwaya in fact was established in the year 1000. Those are the original sweets available in Japan. You can have them with hot Japanese tea.

So called Kyoto’s kitchen started about 1200 years ago and has become a popular market since the Edo era. There are about 120 stores on the narrow Nishiki street. You can try variety of local foods.
