Why choose this Kyoto tour ?

In this tour, we go to visit the Buddhist temple Enryaku-ji, part of the UNESCO world heritage, perched on Mount Hiei between the cities of Kyoto and Otsu. Let’s enjoy our trip!

We visit more precisely the area of the East Pagoda, which is made up of the main pavilions of this Buddhist complex, including the Konpon Chudo, the nerve and historical center of the complex.

We are in the middle of nature and we can recharge our batteries. A good breath of fresh air.

Your guide, a specialist and graduate in Japanese History, will guide you through this place and explain all the ins and outs of the history of these places.

This Buddhist complex dates from the end of the 8th century and played an important role during the Japanese civil war (period of the Warring States 1467-1615). It is also a unique opportunity for the traveler to learn more about Japanese history and Buddhism in the heart of nature and in the mountains. Let’s go! We are waiting for you.

Make the most of your Kyoto adventure

What makes Full-Day private guided tour to Mount Hiei (Enryaku-ji) a unique experience ?

We can observe many landscapes from the bus which takes us from Kyoto to Mount Hiei, including the towns of Kyoto and then Otsu from the mountain heights. Beautiful photos and videos in the programme!

We begin this visit to the Enryaku-ji Buddhist temple with its Gates, its east pagoda and the pavilion of Buddha Amida. The portal serves as a separation between the human world and the spirit world. This is the opportunity for us to “really” enter these places.

The Kaidan-in pavilion stands out with the immaculate and brand new red of its facade. We will be dazzled by this sparkling red which will make our memories and photos magnificent.

The Enryaku-ji auditorium is the study hall of Buddhist monks. We can visit it and feel the studious atmosphere of the place. Next, we head to the large bell of the complex next to this building. We can ring it, hoping that our wishes come true.

Here we are in front of the main hall, the Konpon Chudo. It is still under renovation until 2026 and it is an opportunity for us to see how a traditional Japanese building, the subject of an exhibition, is renovated.
Nearby is the World Peace Hall as well as the Monju-ro portal which we will then visit.
