Kyoto Trip Overview

Day1: 60km (1000m altitude difference)

You drive from Kyoto to the north, where the Hanase Pass is waiting for you. The ascent to the pass height of 750 m is your biggest challenge. The road to Miyama leads you through small villages and is mostly traffic-free. You follow a river and climb the Sasari Pass before arriving in Miyama. In Miyama you stroll through the hamlet with its thatched houses, nestled between vegetable and flower gardens. After the sightseeing, it is only a short drive to your Japanese ryokan accommodation where you can enjoy a hot spring bath and the sophisticated kaiseki cuisine, a true treat for the palate and eyes.

Day 2: 70 km (1000 meters altitude)

After a traditional Japanese breakfast, continue on small country roads to reach the district of Arashiyama. You drive through the traditional cityscape with temples, shrines and old houses as well as through the famous bamboo forest. The tour ends at the starting point.

2-day self-guided bike ride to Miyama, 60 km from Kyoto, a famous hamlet where traditional farmhouses with thatched roofs still exist. You drive on remote roads without traffic through the untouched nature in the north of Kyoto. The idyllic landscape and the thatched roofs convey a traditional atmosphere. Overnight in a traditional onsen (thermal bath) and kaiseki ryori (traditional Japanese dinner) complete this immersion in the traditional culture of Japan. The highlight of Day 2 is the traditional district of Arashiyama in western Kyoto with its famous bamboo grove. E-bikes are available. The tour can also be done as a 1 day tour. Each about 60km per day with about 1000 meters. For the 2-day tour, please book at least one week in advance to book the hotel. Also suitable for Japanese guests.
