This class takes place at a temple surrounded by nature in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka. After arriving at the temple, take a quick tour around the temple with the instructor. Then put on Kappogi, Japanese-style apron, to get started on your dango making experience at the temple’s tea house.
You are going to make two kinds of organic plant-based dango: Kushi-dango (skewered dango dumplings), and Chakin-shibori (dango formed by wrapping it in a cloth and squeezing it). Don’t have any experience in making sweets? Need not worry! The instructor will assist you step by step to make exquisite dango dumplings!
Once you’re done making dango, now it’s time to savor them with various seasonings, such as anko (red bean paste), kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) and kinako (soybean flour), while sipping Japanese green tea which goes perfectly with the sweet dango.
At the end of the class, offer a prayer at the main hall to conclude this wonderful experience.
