Itinerary

Stop At: Natadera Temple, 122 Natamachi Yu, Komatsu 923-0336 Ishikawa Prefecture

The Natadera Temple is the head temple of the Shingon Sector and was established in 717. Toshitsune Maeda, the 3rd lord of the Kaga Clan, built the incense burning pavilion, 3-story pagoda, the bell tower, the study room. Magnificent scenery of strangely formed rocks that are said to be the remains from ancient volcanic eruptions undersea is a must-see. Also famous for viewing beautiful autumn leaves.

Stop At: Daihonzan Eihei-ji Temple, 5-15 Shihi, Eiheiji-cho, Yoshida-gun 910-1228 Fukui Prefecture

Eiheiji is a large temple complex and active monastery standing on a cedar covered slope in the mountains just outside Fukui City founded in 1244. Eiheiji is one of two head temples of the Soto Sect of Zen Buddhism.
The temple complex consists of over 70 buildings and structures which are connected to each other by covered walkways that protect from the heavy snow seen in the region from December to March. Famous spot for autumn leaves.

Stop At: Eiheiji Mai Road, Shihi, Eiheiji-cho, Yoshida-gun 910-1228 Fukui Prefecture

Try famous Echizen soba noodle here for lunch. There are several souvenir shops to look around.

Stop At: Tojinbo, 64-1 Mikunichō Antō, Sakai, Fukui 913-0064, Japan

Tojinbo is a one kilometer long stretch of rugged basalt cliffs along the Sea of Japan coast north of Fukui City. The rocky coastline has been carved out by the waves, leaving deep chasms and precipitous bluffs that tower up to 30 meters above the water below. The coarse, pillar-shaped rocks look like bundles of hexagonal and pentagonal rods and are a unique geologically formation that can be seen in only three spots in the world and nowhere else in Japan.
