The interior of the shrine is lavishly decorated, and the main hall, worship hall, and offering hall are designated as national treasures. The shrine building interior will not be visited.
The tour will make a stop at Kirishima Roadside Station in the Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park. Behold the impressive Kirishima Mountains and Kinko Bay spreading out below. Free time for lunch – lunch charges not included. *Credit cards cannot be used for payment at the restaurant, so please be sure to bring cash.
Enjoy trekking at Ebino Kogen, a nature-rich highland with an altitude of 1,200 m in the Kirishima Mountains. Starting from the Ebino Eco Museum Center, embark on a 2-hour walk along a course overlooking the crater lake. While walking, relish the various natural landscapes that make up Kirishima, such as the beautiful cobalt blue lakes Rokukannonmiike and Fudoike, and Karakunidake, the highest peak of the Kirishima Mountains. The trekking course and duration may change depending on volcanic activity and mountain trail restrictions.
To the southwest of the Kirishima Mountains lies the hot spring village of Kirishima Onsenkyo, home to 9 hot springs of various sizes with water that springs from Mt. Kirishima. After having enjoyed the magnificent nature nurtured by the Kirishima Mountains, spend the last leg of the tour at Maruo Falls, called “Yunotaki” for its flowing hot spring water.
