Stop At: Akama Shrine, 4-1 Amidaijicho, Shimonoseki 750-0003 Yamaguchi Prefecture

The most striking feature of Akama Jingu is the large white base that supports one of its many red roofs. This shrine was built to commemorate the spirit of the six-year-old Emperor Antoku who died early in a battle. The visit to both Akama Shrine and Karato Market includes 60 mins. Admission 100 yen to the shrine is not included.

Stop At: Karato Sea Market, 5-50 Karato-cho, Shimonoseki 750-0005 Yamaguchi Prefecture

Karato Market is a popular local seafood market, and especially known for its puffer fish. Here guests will have about one hour (including Akama Shrine) to stroll and taste the local food in the bustling market. While enjoying the fresh seafood or just-cooked snacks, you may also get an affectionate feeling with the seller’s greetings and their hospitality. There are also great selections of sea food souvenirs for you to choose!

Stop At: Tsunoshima Ohashi, Hohokucho Kanda, Shimonoseki 759-5331 Yamaguchi Prefecture

Cross Tsunoshima Bridge to fully enjoy the panoramic landscape and Amagase Park. Tsunoshima Bridge often appears in TV commercials and is one of Japan’s top class staggering bridges. This bridge is open for vehicles to pass without charging fees; the 1780 meters’ long bridge strides across beautiful cobalt blue sea and the harmonized view is entrancing!

Stop At: Motonosumi Shrine, 498 Yuyatsuo, Nagato 759-4712 Yamaguchi Prefecture

Upon arrival at Motonosumi Inari Shrine, there will be a 40 minutes’ session for leisurely walking around the magnificent vermilion torii that stretches over to the sea.

Stop At: Amagase Park, Hohokucho Kanda, Shimonoseki 759-5331 Yamaguchi Prefecture

Upon returning, stop by Amagase Park for a rest and once more have an overview of the azure sea.
