The porcelain factory “Kouraku Kiln” was founded in 1865. The Brazilian artist Sebastiao Pimenta, who developed many researches between Brazil and China and has become enthusiastic about Aritaware, is in charge of the instruction during the workshop.
Itinerary
After arriving, we will guide you through a vast wooden factory building where the Arita elementary school gymnasium was located about 150 years ago, explaining the Arita porcelain process and various techniques. After that, in the “Pottery Studio”, we challenged the creation of a bowl using a professional electric wheel, a characteristic of Aritaware using porcelain clay (5kg). You can make as many as you like during the 90-minute period. The plates and utensils made by everyone are carefully finished by the craftsmen of Kouraku Kiln, and two pieces of the pottery wheel and two form the paint experience will be sent to you after they are fired. In the painting part, you will experience both “under glaze painting” and “over glaze painting”, which are characteristic of Aritaware, using the unglazed pots prepared here.
The pieces that you have painted are finished in the Kouraku kiln, and they will be sent to you at home after the firing process.
